Knoxville Writers' Guild
Awards Gala 2006
  Jeff Daniel Marion

Jeff Daniel Marion

Part of the Knoxville Writers' Guild mission is "to promote writing and creativity in the wider community through education, publication, and sponsorship of writing-related events."  Beginning in 2002, we have added another goal:  to begin a tradition of honoring local writers whose career achievements deserve the recognition of the wider community that is the Knoxville metropolitan area and our region as a whole.

Please join the Guild in applauding famed poet and writer Jeff Daniel Marion for his achievements as a noted author, teacher and scholar. To read more about his achievements, click here or visit Celtic Cat Publishing.

Master of Ceremonies Fred Brown, columnist for the Knoxville News-Sentinel, will lead the evening's activities. The program will also feature live music by jazz combo Christabel and the Jons and a catered buffet by Everyday Epicurean. More than $2,100 in prizes will be given to winners of awards for fiction, poetry, and essays.  Join the Sky Writers' Masquerade--dress as your favorite writer and be judged by poet Marilyn Kallet. Costumes are optional, but the more folks who join in, the more fun we'll have.

The event is scheduled to begin with a social hour at 6:00-9:00pm Thursday, June 8 at the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church
located at 2931 Kingston Pike. Tickets are $18 each (students $12). To reserve seats, make checks payable to KWG and mail them to the address below. Be sure to include your phone number and address and add "Gala Tickets" on your check.
