Jessie Janeshek is the co-editor of Outscape: Writings on Fences and Frontiers (KWG Press, 2008) and a member of the KWG board of directors (2007-2009).

Outscape contains work by more than 100 writers and artists, including Pulitzer Prize winning poet Charles Wright; Deedee Agee, daughter of novelist James Agee; poet, translator, and children’s book author Marilyn Kallet; Iowa Prize winning poet Peter Jay Shippy; and poet and musician RB Morris. A West Virginia native, Jessie is a doctoral candidate in English at the University of Tennessee, where she is currently writing a book-length manuscript of original poetry for her dissertation. She holds an M.F.A. in poetry from Emerson College, Boston, and a B.A. in literature from Bethany College in Bethany, WV.

Jessie’s creative work appears in Washington Square, Passages North, EvaMag, Review Americana, Yemassee, and Caduceus, has been anthologized in the collections The Movable Nest: A Mother/Daughter Companion and Low Explosions: Writings on the Body, and is forthcoming in Motif: Writing by Ear. She has presented academically and creatively at a number of regional and national conferences such as the 2008 Southern Festival of Books in Nashville and the 2008 AWP (Association of Writers & Writing Programs) annual conference in New York, NY.

Promoting her belief in the power of creative writing as community outreach, Jessie co-directs a variety of volunteer workshops in the Knoxville area. She also works as a freelance editor and as a writing instructor at UT.
