Mama by Iosifina Papamichalopoulou

This memoir was written to explore the author's life and times of raising four children in the mountains of Greece during WWII and the Greek Civil War. September 14 was the day "all the people of Yannitsa were called to the square and told by the German officers to circle the freshly dug pit. With my two daughters hugging my skirts and Yianni in my arms, my body felt as if it were filled with lead. As the German soldiers took aim, I closed my eyes."
Available at all Knoxville TN area book stores.
