Vicars
Angie Vicars
joined the Writers Guild in the mid-90s at the same time she started
freelancing for Metro Pulse and organizing
community relations for Bookstar, which later became Barnes & Noble.
Since she started dictating at the age of two, and writing shortly thereafter, she’s become a published novelist, essayist, columnist, poet and Web writer. A collection of Angie’s essays called My Barbie was an Amputee was published in the spring of 2006 by Celtic Cat Publishing. It’s a collection of the Yikes columns she wrote for Metro Pulse for several years. Her novel, Treat, was published in the summer of 2001 by Haworth Press. Her poems can be found in multiple KWG anthologies. And she says she’s working on a second novel, although no one else has seen it yet. Angie has a master of fine arts in screenwriting from the University of Miami, though screenplays are what she currently writes least. When writing for others, Angie can often be found in Greystone Mansion, producing the Web site for WATE. The site has won three Edward R. Murrow awards for best web site in a small media market that includes five states. Before that, she occupied an office in Oak Ridge as the head Web site writer for iPIX. There, she perfected the art of editing with one hand while holding coffee in the other. In her spare time, Angie likes to work on her house, read, watch movies, hike, drink wine and smoke the occasional cigar. |
